I used to read novels of Paulo Coelho, that’s why this story of Veronika really catches my interest. When I was informed that Veronika Decides to Die will be in film, I was so happy then because I knew already about the whole story and I really wanted to find out and to look that this story will be in a film. I know for sure that this film will be great, and without so much ado and a second thought I watch it. On the face of it, I was quite satisfied with what I have seen, because it’s really different if you really read the whole story. Although, I find it so impressive to see and my mind during that time was very imaginative with what’s going to happen next, my friends cannot relate to me during that time because they haven’t read the whole story, and I did.
It was actually a story of Veronika, who is a young, beautiful and loved girl who has a boyfriend, a loving family and a good job, in short she has all the things in life, but still she finds her life empty and not worth living, and her everyday routine was too normal for her, thus, she decides to take her own life to stop that endless routines but she failed in her attempts and leads her to a mental hospital. After waking up in a psychiatric hospital she is informed that although she didn’t die at that time, death is still around the corner. She met different inmates in the hospital and falls in love with Eduard. In these intense days she begins to question her existence and ideas about life. And soon she realized that every second of life is worth living for, and she begins to find herself falling in love with life and wanting to live again and ultimately discovers what it means to live. This book tells her story after she struggles to live her last few remaining days appreciating every second of her life. The author also who is Paulo Coelho is trying to impart to his reader many things aboard his promise to reveal his personal experiences of a doctor patient relationship into mental hospital.
