Some of the old and young Catholic congregation were celebrating the world youth day in an open parking lot in Quezon City. Catholic devotees and participants of this year’s local world youth day still continued in standing and bursting forth in singing and dancing to religious songs and didn’t end up the celebration even if it’s raining heavily. Most of the participants came from different places throughout the Philippines accompanied by their teachers just to get a feel of the two-day vigil of the world youth day. They’ve said that even if it’s raining and they didn’t even know each other still the spirit of world youth day and the spirit of unity are there. They seemed to share the same outlook at the weather and considered the rain as a blessing. Other youth says, that’s why they’re participating because they want to strengthen the faith of the youth once more, since many have said that the youth nowadays are no longer active compared before. This local World Youth Day is said to be a celebration that presented as an extension of the main celebration of the 26th World Youth Day in Spain.
I am glad for the participants because they have a positive reaction to the weather and just like everyone else in the crowd, I seemed to share the same outlook with them as the weather is concerned that the rain can be consider as a blessing. I guess this is really important for everybody, especially to the youth itself. And I hope that aside from all the singing and dancing actions, the solemnity meaning to us is what really matters the most. The mere prayers and sharing activities with each other and meeting new friends also do matters to strengthen our faith and remembering and paying tribute to what the late Blessed Pope John Paul II said that the youth is the hope of the world.
